Well pains me to do it, but I bought a bigger boat and now I need to get rid of my beloved first boat. So here is the scoop on her:
Bought this boat in July of 15 from a mechanic at M&M Marine in Huntington Beach who put the boat together for himself but ran into some money issues before he could even take her out. She is 18ft sitting on a tandem axle trailer that has been recently gone through by GS Marine with new bunks, new LED lighting all around. The trailer was just serviced in October of 15 with new bearing buddy installed. Registration was just paid on both boat and trailer.
Now for the boat, Ive only had it for a year and its only been out on a handful of trips around Avi and Elsinore. I will try to describe her to the best of my ability. Here's what I know about her: Its a panther jet that shows no signs of slippage or abnormal wear with a manual place diverter setup, its got a 454 BBC (I'm guessing bone stock), engine shows great compression all around and starts right up every time. Its got an Edlebrock Torquer manifold and a Holley 650 with an aluminum scoop. Water hoses and gaskets were all looked at and broken ones replaced by GS Marine. Exhaust manifolds are Hardin logs that look to be in great condition, no cracks, no leaks. There are no leaks on the motor. Dual battery setup, nice little iPod/iPhone setup that runs through a couple 6X9s, not the loudest stereo, but it sounds great just hanging out in a cove or floating down the river. Interior is in great condition with no cracks or tears. New thick blue marine carpet installed last year, not the this cheap stuff. New Hardin gauges all around, interior lighting is all LED. She comes with a bimini top that matches the interior (again great shape, no tears or rips, no fading) Gelcoat is in great condition with a few stress cracks here and there but nothing bad. Brand new rub rail was also installed last year. There is a teak swim step in OK condition, but could use some sanding and reciting in some of the corner areas, no sign of rotting though.
Here are the problems:
Boat recently picked up a stalling issue at full throttle after it sat for the winter. Engine restarts immediately and cruises fine but at wide open throttle for a minute or two it just putters like she's out of fuel and then dies. I'm assuming she will need a carb kit to remedy this as everything else on the motor is brand new including the electric fuel pump. Maybe it could use a new fuel filter? I'm not sure, but I have one of those too that I can throw in.
Other than the above, she has been a great first boat and I truly am sad to see her go. Wish I had more room in my driveway for her otherwise I'd keep her. Overall I'd give the boat a 8/10 as far as appearance and reliability. I had to take away 2 points due to some very minor cosmetic flaws. I'm asking $4500 but I'm open for offers or maybe trade for a newer sportster? The boat resides in Westminster so if you want to see it let me know.
