If someone is looking at this and liking it, but concerned with the jacuzzi pump being a dog, I assure you it is not. I've got 2 people who have been in the boat before I removed my motor and they will both attest that it accelerated like no boat tehy have ever been in.

If I need to put my motor back in it to give some test rides to a potential buyer I will consider it.

Sorry, dont need any dirtbikes.

The sanger gunwhales have a dip in them like a lot of other boats. The Rogers, Brendella/Centurion/Hondos don't. Otherwise they look very similar.

Crappy pic, but this is a shot I took of the alternator mount. There is a spot to mount your MSD ignition on the plate as well, or if you want I can cut that part off. Mount will be polished for new owner. Wiring is super clean on this boat. All new. Runs from the terminal block down through a 1 inch grommet in the rail, back a few feet then back up through the rail. Wiring then runs along the bell housing. End result is a spotless wiring job that is hardly seen. Brand new Optima red top goes with the boat.

Thanks Jim,

a little story: When I bought the hull I had no idea what it was, if it had any performance potential or not. I knew nothing about boats. Turns out I got pretty lucky. Jack had a boat in his shop while I was entertaining whether or not to keep the jacuzzi or go berk. The boat looked really similar with exception of the t-deck. Turned out to be a Hondo Pantera and thats when Jack & I realized that my Brendella was a copy of the Pantera. Given the relationships between Brendella & Hondo it seemed fitting that Brendella would copy the Hondo's. Jack went on to say that the hull in his shop used to have a delta pad and that once it was removed the hull was in the 80's with less than 600 hp. This boat also had the Cav plate hardware which was beautiful. This hull has the recesses in the bottom for the cav plates too.

From there my horsepower dreams got out of hand. I went from wanting 600 hp to 700 to 800 and ended up with a bit more. This boat handled it masterfully. If I didn't have a 2 year old Id still be runing this thing. The hull is solid, no cracks, 1 inch full length stringers. Flat out screams in the chop.

After reading this I tried to find information about delta pad design but could not come up with much information or pics to help explain.  So in order to remove a delta pad was it necessary to reshape the bottom of the hull or was it something that could be easily removed?

Up until this point I have not heard about a delta pad, and don't understand what you are talking about.

Thanks.

A delta pad is a flat triangular pad in front of the pump intake. Its considered by those who know this hull that the boat runs better without it. Jeff Bennett reshaped the bottom to eliminate the delta pad. Ill dig up some pix of the bottom.

Free polished motor plates to any buyer who has a non Chevy motor going in. Buyer must supply a bare block with oil pan so I can make the patterns though. A built engine being used in this capacity will slow down the process but could possibly be done...

I'd like to compare some pictures to the bottom of my Hondo.  I sure it has never been touched.

You mentioned improved mph, but what does it do for handling?  (not that it really matters, mine isn't fast enough to have a handling problem)  ;D
Title: Re: 1977 Brendella(Hondo Pantera bottom) for Sale less motor

Ive got the pix but they are on my old computer. If you have pix of yours post em up. I am intimately familiar with the bottom of my boat. Ill try to get the pics up tonight otherwise.

no noticeable change to handling. The mod is done to increase pump loading efficiency at high speeds.

Example:
Take a knife or spatula and hold it vertically under running water, notice how the water runs off in a sheet. Next hold the backside of a spoon under the water vertically, notice how the water follows the shape of the spoon.

The knife example is the delta pad, the spoon example is of the modified entry. Im not saying the delta pad wont work, my boat ran fine without it(before the big power came). The goal was to go as fast as possible with my power though. The spooned entry loads harder than the delta pad does. Perhaps a pump with a delta pad entry could be loaded as hard, but it would have more shoe & loader which would create drag and scrub speed and potentially cause ill handling.

Also, if you dont know who Jeff Bennett is, he is a long time jet racer and happens to be a Rocket Scientist for Boeing as a day job. He knows the Hondo Pantera hull and I trust his word when he tells me to go fast it will require the removal of the delta pad.

As for handling, it handles great. It doesn't have a turn fin so I never got crazy with it, however the hull was used as a circle racer back in the day and did a good job. Most notably the Hurry Round Hondo was of the same design. That boat won lots of races. Its a safe hull.

Here are some misc. pix I have. (Ive got several hundred of the boat in varying stages...)

Impeller-This is aluminum. If someone wants to run big power Id recommend going stainless(I have one for sale). The good thing about the aluminum Jacuzzi is that they are fairly stout. With the extra vein there is more material holding it together, but the fact remains, its aluminum.

Lemme know. I wont pull the pump/intake without a $500 deposit in hand. might want to think about keeping the jacuzzi though. Its an ass kicker for sure. Setup and ready to run. But if you have another pump then I can understand. I can make room for the pump. Its the boat thats in the way.

If its for this boat, its free :)

Otherwise, not really sure. I would do it if someone wanted, but its helpful to have the boat handy, as every rail kit/boat install is different. If someone just wanted the plates drilled for the bolt patterns and they do the final trimming(for shape & placement) I would do it for $100 bucks plus shipping & materials.

My plates cost me about $35 to make, not including my time of course. Im pretty sure I've got access to a SBC block too.

I've got the block, and may have a hull pretty soon. I will keep you posted. Came across a 1 of 3 built tunnel hull. Thinking about it. I would like to pay you whatever you feel is reasonable. $100 sounds a little low considering you will also have time invested, I don't want to low ball you as you would be doing me a favor.

Like I said, that would only be for locating the bolt holes & locating pins and drilling to proper sizes. I would leave enough material so you could cut the final shape. Let me know. I can actually give you a great tip for making them. Without the boat in my garage you'd end up with a lot of work to do to them, be better to make them your self.

As long as you have a jig saw and a drill motor you can make them. There will be a couple more little things to buy, but it can be done on a budget.

If you are local, go to Schorr Metals in Placentia, near the corner of Kraemer & Orangethorpe.

They have a nice "drop" section. Pick a clean piece and sand the scratches out. Takes a little longer, but it is much cheaper.

This (http://www.adi-aero.com/adi/index.htm) is where I work. Metal is not a problem, I just don't have time. If I could get sketches or something I could do it here... I just haven't done it before and have no idea how it's done.

This is what we build out of Titanium, Aluminum and steel.

I think Superdave013 has them. I think his name is Larry Nebb on the powerboats site. If you post up over there Im pretty sure someone has some cad files or atleast some layouts with the bolt hole locations...The hard part is locating the crankshaft centerline for YOUR boat.

I took a bare block, with a piece of straight pipe running through the mains and with the mounts rough cut, trimmed until the straight pipe would slide over the pump shaft. I purposely didn't make it perfect(but got it close) so the ujoints in the driveline get some use.

Im sure with the cad files or even the layouts(if hotboat comes back they are on that site) Im sure someone at your work can whittle those things out in nothing flat. Up to you to final fit. Otherwise Id be glad to help out, would just need some measurements from you.

Clean boat! Full stringers, no cracks, fresh white paint. Setback stage 3 MPD 12WJ pump, shoe, rideplate, worked bowl, impeller, custom loader, droop, diverter. Nice rail kit for BBC. Direct drive alternator, all new wiring throughout, no hacked wires. New black marine carpet. All new cables, billet foot throttle, billet fuel caps, stainless 15 gallon Imco's(2). Refurbed helm, billet hub. Jeff Bennett Bottom. Super comfy lowback corbeau seats. Clean double axle trailer, good tires, all new bearings. 1 hour on boat/pump after full resto.

**Note boat also has cavitation plate recesses for those of you who are interested in racing in circles. This boat hauls the mail in chop. Come check it out.

What it needs: A motor, gauges, plumbing and rub rail. Boat has Fresh paint but was never color sanded. Plenty of clear there to do so and in the sunlight you can hardly look at it-very bright.

$4000 obo.

If you put a Berk in it, I would consider buying the Jacuzzi.

First bid, $50.00  >:D

That is the SCJB special, right?  ;)

LOL, id put the Jacuzzi in my other boat. Im not afraid of them. I've seen what a good WJ can do...On the other hand, if someone wants the boat less pump, the Jacuzzi may be up for sale. I wont sell for less than $1500 though. Considering what I've got in it ($3k) thats a good deal.

corbeau has some bench seats you could throw back there and they would match the front...

Absolutely. When I got the boat it had seating for 4 adults(5 if you get cozy). You would need to buy the boat without the current seats and put in some fiberglass buckets and then a bench would fit no problem. You would probably want to run the alternator in a standard configuration as well instead of the direct drive, or build the back seat around it

Note: These seats aren’t in the corbeau catalog. I bought the GTA low backs and shortened them about 6 inches. For the back seat I was going to buy another one, shorten it and widen it and then have it reupholstered to match. Im 6 feet tall and the placement as is right now is perfect provided your legs are as long as mine. There is room to move the foot pedal forward and the front seats as well which would make some more room for a back seat. There is very little room to store things like inflatables though, not that it couldn’t be done, you would just need to be creative-like put a swimstep on it and tie inflatables to that, or-you could always just drag them…
