If anyone is interested there is a listing for a 74 hondo jet boat with a bbc on Ebay.
I have not figured out how to do the link to the listing yet, but if you search for Hondo it'll come up

all you do is copy and paste the address bar!
And by the pics that looks like a AMC motor.

i would have to agree on the motor, doesn't look like any bbc i have seen, dist wrong end, fuel pump on wrong side, but i could be wrong to ???

No it IS an AMC, not that uncommon really. My buddy had a 401 in his jet boat.

My first jet was powered by amc too. I think it was a 360 ran really good.

When I first posted this, I just found the listing and hadn't looked at the pics to closely. But now I'm convinced that this boat needs to be purchased by someone that has a brain. How can you own a jet boat with an open engine bay and not have a clue whats in it?

"top speed 70+ master tech has to sell toy just gas & go"
and claim to be a master mechanic ;D
-
it's not a amc probably a sb ford, amc has the center 2 exhaust ports close together, like a sb chevy, Jim
-
its not a SB Ford, oil filter/fuel pump are reversed and distributor is angled.
Could it be an Olds?

I went and looked at a boat one time and it had a AMC in it and it looked identical!

I think a BBC would fit just fine, too bad about the pump and that "new paint" thing can go either way.....

From what I can find I think it is a Cadillac :o ::) :-\ O0

I think we have a WINNER !! That sure looks like a 472/500ci Cady to me. I've never seen one in a boat before, but it's not a bad idea. HUGE torque and even though its the size of a BBC it only weighs about 50lbs more than a SBC, just keep it under 5000rpm or BAD things can happen !!
