Title: Hondo Jet Boat
Post by: Sanger Pete on January 09, 2009, 04:01:58 PM
I got this Hondo from Boost on a trade deal a few months ago. I was going to wait until spring to advertise it for sale, but have had some interest based on old posts. So here it is in the right section.

Nice--not perfect, but nice Hondo Jet Boat. Fresh 454/Tunnel ram, Jacuzzi WJ pump with hydrolic place diverter, tandem axle trailer. Runs in the mid 70s. I want to get $5,000 out of it--Boost told me he had $4K in the motor.

Wow, Boost is sure fast on the keyboard. As you may have guessed, he was the previous owner and I'm sure knows more about the boat than I do. Back seat leg room is not bad, and front seat is pretty good--I'm 6' tall and it was very comfortable for me. Although the boat is new to me, I actually have spent a significant amout of time in a Hondo hull with a BBC/Jacuzzi WJ just like this one--a good friend bought a new one from Hondo in the early 70s. You're right, the hulls have some real classic lines, but also the bottoms seem to allow the boats to run on top of the water, rather that "in" the water like most of the 70's "production" boats. It would make you a fine "summer toy". Give me a call, and we can figure out how get it from my place to your's.

I know what you're mean. When I hear Hondo, the first thing I think of is the T-deck model.

it is almost Identical to a southwind, I have the same boat, but with a bbc/ Dominator, they work good and are layed up pretty light for a play boat

I know Hondo was making this hull as early as 1973. I have a friend who bought one from Hondo that year. It had the same set up as this one--BBC/JacuzziWJ, and blue metal flake!!

i was looking around at some way old post and i read up when boost first got this...it mentioned that it had an energizer kit on it...i may completely wrong so keep that in mind.  if it does in fact have that it may help the sale of this bad boy.  like i said...i could be 100% incorrect!!! :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:  good luck man...i have been spreading the word in my turf.  every since i bought my first project all of my buddies want one now.  curious to see what they do when the new boat actually runs!! lol  btw...check out my project thread...titled(my hondo build up)in projects  good luck!  bump ;D
