That is a stock paint scheme on a stock Liberty. Liberty NEVER raced a K Jet. Eliminator bought the 20' outboard only. Even at a good price this guy should get his stories straight. I am drooling though. If it wasn't for family issues I'd be real tempted.

welcome to craigslist/ebay sellers. you wouldnt believe the crap i read. Either they try to use catch phrases like "flatbottom" to sell a v-bottom jet boat, or they say that their rust/rott bucket is a turn key 100mph race boat.

Are you saying that this might be a rot-bottom?... If it's the original Engine it should be a good 4-bolt block with a decent set-up. Crag Millet and Jeff Bennett set them all up out of the shop.

i am not suggesting that at all about this boat....although, out of all 3 liberties i have see up close (ralph's, lance's and mine) they all had severe wood rot everywhere. All of my plywood from the boweye to the transom was/is seperated. Same with ralphs and lances....I have replaced everything from the dash forward already. i still need to do up inside the gunnels and the transom maybe someday :banghead:

Well this is a little off post but wood rot is an interesting discussion. Has anyone thought about all composite bulkheads and stringers? By using the old bulkheads as pattern I would think you could build up all glass bulkheads easily by laying them up on a waxed piece of malamine, trimming to size and glassing them in... just a thought.

im not sure why they even use wood in boats.....maybe they didnt think us idiots 30 years later would be still trying to make them float ;D ....not to mention race them.

Hay you guys aren't idiots!!! But 30 years is a long time, even buildings are designed with only a 30 year life expectancy (ever think why the banks like 30 year loans?). Think what that same wood would look like if it was uncovered in your back yard for 30 years. Keep up the restoration / racing who knows some day they may be worth real money to an antique dealer.

Brad, isn't it great that you guys have these old crates to play with after all these years? Hell I'm surprised any of them made it 10 years after the crap they went through. To be quite honest the new race boats I don't think are planed to survive two years. As far as "real money" won't it be hilarious when another 30 years from now we'll all be sitting in our rocking chairs watching Antiques Road Show and see our favorite rides being described as a rare item and if it hadn't been repainted back at the turn of the century it would be worth $5,000,000?
