I suppose if you have him tear it down to show what it really has, then yes

:banghead: Hell with that kind of thinking anything and everything that's for sale is a fraud unless it's dismantled. :screwy:

Look at the picture....It's a 2 year old picture..What does it look like NOW??? ??? 8)

i dont trust any seller unless i can see the product or know them personally, if i were selling and engine i would be expecting the buyer to ask me to tear it down to prove that my price = to what im selling.
but thats just me
edit, would you have bought your injection system site unseen?

:banghead: Didn't even notice that... 3 trips in two years, seems like with a bitch for a soon-to-be-ex-wife you'd go to the river more. ???

It doesn't look like I'm going to be selling you an engine anytime soon. LOL
I would have bought the injection system sight unseen if I had gotten a killer deal on it, say $500 - $700. But being that I paid a fair/reasonable price for it then yes I'd have to see at least a pic of it. I don't think a full roller stroker engine can be built for the price he's asking for the entire boat which has a lot of newer (claimed) sh!t on it. Most of that boat could be verified true or false with an in-person look at it. Besides I've been there (divorce) and I will never be surprised what gets sold for cheap just to keep it from the soon-to-be-ex-wife-bitch or to help save "your" asss.

Amen to that +1

i dont think asking them to pull the pan/intake/valve cover is an unreasonable request....and if i requested it and they declined, its possible they are hiding something. might not be a deal breaker, but it sure throws a red flag.

if i was selling my roller motor i would expect the buyer to ask me to tear it down for inspection, but thats just me, because the price would not be cheep

But this guy is selling an entire boat and not just an engine, claiming pretty new interior, pump with FTN hyd Place, engine, etc... Stating the obvious - if a prospective buyer showed up and it's interior looks new, pump's exterior looked new, crawled underneath and the impellor looked new, etc... is the deal going to fall through because the guy doesn't want to pull the engine and tear it apart to prove it's got a stroked roller engine in it? I doubt it. If everything looked "right" I'd believe the guy in that he's just trying to dump it due to his upcoming divorce. Also obvious is that if everything didn't look new and the seller is claiming it all is new... uhmmm... How much would you sell your stroked roller engine for? He's asking 5K for the whole boat, your engine has to be worth a minimum of 5K in it's used condition, which would lead me to believe that his engine is probably worth close to the same (assuming it is what he's claiming). Sounds like a killer deal to me.

point taken, 5g's and it blows up first time out then whats it worth if the motor is not a roller/stroker

I think that's a risk taken with any jet boat purchase (blowing up first time out). Honestly I'm confused what's it matter what it was after it's been blown up.
I gotta go to the dentist now and I'm scaired :'( :D Have a great day!
-
Well i can say this..............I will never buy another engine without knowing exactly what it is ...... point blank!
$5,000 for the boat , engine blows. $5,000 for another engine...... you now have a ten thousand dollar boat worth $3000-$4000........... ???
Never again.

Well that wasn't sh!t. :P ;D

Your engine purchase, just like my 427 Chevy engine purchase awhile back, should be looked at a little different than say buying Ralph's engine. You knew your engine required going through when you bought it, as did I, whereas Ralph's engine (if it were for sale) would have a MUCH higher price tag and be ready to go. Yours was different than mine in that I bought a 427 and got a 427 and yours... well... uhmmm... The engine that's in this boat shouldn't be looked at as just an engine to a prospective buyer for the boat, after all it is an entire boat.

I respectfully disagree because that boat (assuming it's got new bla bla bla) would be worth 6 -7K with another new engine in it (assuming it did blow up), worth the same it is now. My friend Mike put 25K+ into his boat and sold it for 11.5K which makes this one look like that much better of an "investment" (term used loosley).
Yeah and i learned the hard way :banghead:

I wish I learned something with my 427. :screwy:

When I sell the motor out of my boat I will sell to only some one that comes down here to River or I will go to Lake near Riverside to test Ca they pay for gas, That way I can drawn the blood from there eye balls then they give me a tare down fee pay for gaskets oil etc I will run leak down and they can see oil pressure when motor is running . If When I pull rocker covers it should look like new rollers ,new springs pressure checked on motor, cam lift checked with dial ind, At that time spec given .
. Then tare down fee plus labor If buyer wants will exchange heads Oval rec custom built, or large Oval or Square Port.MY heads built by me in my shop. Deg pictures taken at time New owner to sine buyer statement , That he has tested motor and motor is what was said to be. That is the way to sell a motor. In my shop for tare down. 454 Chev in Sanger flat bottom. Soon to be BBF ;D

Actually 2Sav was planning to just run that motor, and all of us told him not to take it apart and just the damn thing. Good thing he did take it apart. It's the same situation here, check out what it really is before you buy it
-
with all this i had to go back and read the add again, it says all roller top end, roller rockers not roller cam
the stroker assy i would like to see the pan off, but, as Rod has stated still a good deal, if it was a stock 460. if the rest of the boat was clean

Are you sure? :sly: I do remember 2Sav planning to run that engine as it sat but I also remember it as the seller recomending to take the engine apart... I'd have to find that one thread again...

I'm not in the market for a "? can", or a boat for that matter :screwy: , but let's just hypothetically say I am in the market for a "? can". :banghead: I may eat what's in the can but what's it going to cost/pay me for eating whats in the can? Is the "? can" a great deal compared to other can's or is it just a fair deal compared to other can's? I need more info on the "? can". The "? can" appears to have a new label and I don't see any dents in it, therefore I might actually eat what is in the can but I still need more info on the "? can". LMFAO :screwy:
