Hello here for a while I've been thinking about looking for a project boat in need of a motor. I've got a newly rebuild 440 sitting in my garage (was for another project that never materialized) and figured that'd be a good candidate for settin in a potential boat. My only concerns is that the marine bellhousings and pto's and alot of the other parts for them in a marine application seem pretty tough to come by. Any guys on this forum running MOPAR power that could steer me in the right direction? Thanks.

I have been watching for years. I finally found the mounts from a guy in Nevada and then a few months later last year I found a very nice set of logs on another boating site. Stuff for the old 392 type hemis seem to be easier to find than the wedge motor stuff. It might be easier to fabricate a set of rails for the mounts but logs are gonna be tough unless you wanna buy new. Probably near 2K for new ones from Glenwood. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

make your own rail kit and engine plates, then all you have to worry about is the exhaust

Not sure if they are 440 manifolds but saw this on Craigslist

you might want to keep your eye out for a pyle of crap boat with a dodge motor in it???? youll save a lot of money that way.

The Exhausts come up on Eprey and Cl a lot. Usually the older Hooker boat headers tho. The motor plates (4 point mount) are a little harder to come by (which I why I tuned GC onto the set he got as soon as I saw them). 3 point mounts are easier in some cases because they usually use the same side block mounts as a Mopar B or E body car but mate to normal 3 point stringer mounts. Then you just have to find the Mopar RB 3 point jet bellhousing. Better to look for the 4 points, to be honest.
Check with Jim at Cyclone Marine (818)890-1867, Or
Tom at Jet Boat Performance (805)466-4719, Or
Fatboys at (480)382-6311 (not your normal crew, they're local here, Mesa, and kinda nuts, but they have a LOT and you gotta work 'em down).
If no luck on the used 4 points, I THINK Tom at JPB has plates and rail kits available for the 361-440. At least I know he put one in another boat. ;)
Other things you are gonna need are the logs or headers, obviously, and the PTO adaptor. Those are available new, as a last resort though.

This thread is soo giving me thoughts that my wallet can't afford. A 543 cu. in. Spectra sounds so much better than a 460 Ford. O0
As usual Ray, I hold you at least partly responsible for this. Good on ya!

LOL! I know, MRS GC blames me for a LOT, and I'll take that! Hell I get blamed for a LOT!!!
To be honest though, WHY would you be stroking and messing with the king of torque like the square bore 440 Mopar???
There is NO doubt, nor should there be any question, that Ford and GM were playing serious catch-up to Chrysler in the 60's and 70's as they were, off the showroom floor! GM did the COPO thing, Ford tried the Shelby GT500, etc. NOTHING caught them!

Cuz a forged rotating assembly in either stock of Big Boy size is the same price. And if I can make 525/550 with 474 cu. in. (and small valved smog heads) think what I can do with another 543 or so . . .
Hey Cowboycruiser, if you ever break that motor (doubtful I know) be sure to check out 440source.com for parts. They got it all.

get with SVSSR on this site. he has two project boats one is free and one is 200 bucks. both solid hulls but need to be built.

I run a hemi crank 605 cid wedge with Indy heads in my 2001 shockwave. Glenwood has a bell housing. I motor plated the front and welded AN fittings to mine. As far as exhaust I had Paul bassett Fab me up a set of stainless steel jacketed headers for my setup. Hit me up at 928-713-4457. I own FSM marine in lake Havasu.
