455 newb bare motor and boat need help

new to the boat world this is my first build got it all for $250 now i just need a little or a lot of guidance in the right direction and i can get to work. this is all i have for now i know what goes on a car motor but i do not know about the marine aspect. any and all help is appreciated thanks in advance. trying to build it for summer  :screwy: :screwy: 8)

yes im just focused on the motor and getting it inside the boat mounted and ready to go slow haha the interior and all that i  can do myself make my own i got a friend with a upholstery shop to sew up whatever i make.. main focus is to get running i have the pipes too i believe they still have to give them to me i just dont have any of the hoses or brackets but im going to fabricate my own brackets i work at a machine shop during the day as well so im gonna try and make what i can there everything helps

Where are you located i have a little knowledge of the 455 motors and some parts i have the basset t and injection lines aswell if you have ot headers.

If the motors been sittin awhile id reccomend changin all the gaskets. Something i wish i would have done right off the bat with mine. Make sure it has a gate valve off the pump to drop the water pressure to the motor down to make sure you dont push any by the gaskets and you should be good to go

The article most people follow (myself included) when building a 455 for marine use is The Practical Olds by Timm Jurincie that was published in the June 2006 edition of Hot Boat.  It details the steps he takes to build a reliable and moderately powerful Olds 455. 

The only link to the article that I know of is on another forum so I'm hesitant to post that link here (most forums don't like cross-linking).  Google "Practical Olds" and the 1st 2 results have links posted. ;)
