Get casting #'s of the heads.
need to know-
   Intake manifold
Type/style of pistons for compression ratio
   exhaust system
Impeller cut (at least "as built" cut)

Over camming peanut port, non adjustable Gen V heads is futile and has catastrophic results, Don't ask how ($3500 mistake) I know  :banghead: .

Dan'l

Heads:

14097088...91-up...rect...OPEN...Gen.V 454/502 HO, 118cc chamber

Impeller is "A" cut. Blueprinted pump.

Pistons I'm getting are dish top hyperuetectic

So I made a pretty good size list of parts that I'll be getting from summit racing. I will be at a 464 when it's together. Fixed a spring in my distributor and Rebuilt my carb and today. I Can't wait to get this back on the water!

If you didn't buy the pistons yet,, I need to ask why you want to make the compression that low.  Flat tops with 118cc heads are still about 8-1 compression, depending on deck height and gasket volume.  I would consider making it more like 9-1 compression, still safe on pump gas but some additional power.  Also, I normally would advice forged pistons rather than hypereutectics for a marine application.

I'm going with a dome piston. 9.6:1 ratio. Not buying that engine kit.

Got around to do the valve seals today. And I also assembled the high volume oil pump that I got. Not much wrenching time today but it's progress.

Cleaned up all the old gasket left on the heads today. Also took the block and pistons to the machine shop to get cam bearings put in and have my rods rebuilt with my new pistons.
