Fuel Pressure Gauge
« on: August 01, 2012, 07:07:14 AM »
Has anyone installed a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the dash? Don't really want to spend $230 on an electrical gauge. Would be easy to run 3/8 fuel line from pressure regulator up and under dash. Will the reading be as accurate? Had a pressure problem last weekend and don't want to have a passenger to see the reading at the gauge behind me.

What problems were you having?

It's not recommended to run raw fuel to the dash area.  You can use a fuel gauge isolator to keep the fuel in the engine compartment but you're still looking at a lot of money that could be used to replace a fuel pump, lines or repair the tanks to correct the problem.

I thought about that too. I don't really want fuel up there.

I was losing fuel pressure, but could only feel it. If the gauge was on dash I would have known right away what was up. I run a Procharger so the pressure needs to increase with boost pressure. The regulator boost feature would start to increase then drop back to the base setting. It was fine at the beginning of the trip and slowly started to have issues. I'm running the Aeromotive regulator, getting a rebuild kit later this week.
