How many batteries and what type?

I used to run the single wire Delco Remy with the 85amp kit, but recently changed the self exited regulator out for a three wire, get a lot more control over the charge rate (have two small batteries and an isolator) it used to under/overcharge due to the output wire controls the charge rate, just works better.

But for ease of installation, one wires work great.

If this is a closed engine compartment, be sure to get it "marinized" by putting in the spark screens.

The main reason I like Delco's is I can get parts anywhere..... :D

Is she wired for a three wire or one? The ones work ok but in some cases the control sucks, especially with an isolator.

I also have a cool way to mount an alt on a BBC, if interested.

Most of the BBC alternator mounts I have seen and even done suck...they just drill a 3/8" hole in the top of the motor  mount and run a Kragen special POS adjustment bracket.... that being said, the way I mounted mine was on the front of the engine there is one acc. hole in the head directly above one in the block, so I made two triangular pieces of aluminum (3/8" thick) and used rod couplings and threaded rod to bolt them to these holes and drilled a third hole to "sandwich" the alternator mount tube, then used a turnbuckle as the adjustment rod to the front motor mount bolt and to the 5/16" hole in the alternator. Trying to get a picture but I think I just "smoked" my camera (wont turn on).

I will get a picture tonight.

This keeps the alternator from shaking too and FRO O0

And makes adjusments a breeze

Here is my gm 1 wire.

The turnbuckle makes it really easy to get the proper belt tension.

Here is mine. I used a 15.00 I think Dana marine mount and the alternator also attached to the 4 point mounting plate. I use a one wire chrome summit alternator. I think 85 amps. No problems so far. I know some of you have rail mount kits so your results may vary.
