I had to look up the ThunderJet brand to see what you were talking about... Very cool boats but not many owners on the site, in fact you might be the first.  Most of us are working with 30-40 year old fiberglass classics 

I still should be able to answer your question because jet pump function hasn't changed much in forever. 

First, the terms "fuel mileage" and "jet boats" really should never be used in the same sentence.
And #2, You'll probably get the least fuel consumption around 3000-3200rpm.  You want to be going fast enough to be on plane but trying to keep the rpms as low as possible.

The fun factor is directly related to the tachometer, so your question is pointless.

You need to plan on using all your fuel every time you take it out, and just understand that you will have to adjust the length of your trip based on how much fun you have. 

.  That right there is the best advise for any jet boat owner!!!!

as far as best fuel consumption in any boat its gonna be right as the boat gets on plane, you'll feel that you can back the throttle off and maintain being on plane.  usually the motor makes a nice noise at that rpm.  aka "the sweet spot"... every boat is different.

I'll just have to play with it to figure it out,thanks for the input.The rivers and lakes are still frozen where I live in the arctic,I haven't even tried the boat out yet.The boat will be used for hunting and fishing,that's why I asked.Thanks again.
