So I am new to this website. But I would like to point out that i was the jack ass racing up and down in front of echo lodge labor day weekend, then blew up the motor. Wasn't aware of the oil issue that olds have until monday morning when i began to google it. I'm in the process of getting the motor apart and seeing what all i have done to the heads, as i pulled the oil pan off already and one of the rod bolts was sitting in my oil pan. I have already bought a used block in case mine is damged, and got some good extra parts to go with it. Anybody have this problem with their olds before?? 

and for all you smart asses, i would LOVE to put a BBC in there, but i work for the military and don't get paid the big bucks!!!

Yea, i've spoken to a few people and that seems like 2 grand can either get a long block or maybe even a new motor. i bought somebody's  used "longblock" setup that should be good to go, depending on how much damage has been done to mine. i'm not in a big rush to get going.I'll be happy if it's runnning by march, my wife's got one on the way so it's not number 1 on the priority list, more like #3 or 4 haha!

Just my .02 worth here but children are cheapest before they are born.   Once they are here there is always something that will be more important than spending on the boat (or  the time to work on a boat).   If it ain't fixed now it will be a loooong time down the road.   That has been my experience at least, your results may differ.

If your going to keep the Olds . First thing you should buy is the oil restictor kit .
Have someone who knows what they are doing , install it . Dozzer seems to have had a real good running Olds and has since gone Chevy soooooo.... Good luck and we're here to help .
