From the key hot switch marked S when turned on put this to the wire you hooked up the manual starter button. Turn the key on the starter side look around for a wire thats hot.

not sure i understand

The ignition switch has terminal that is marked S or ign that wire goes to the post on the starter relay. Which is the one you hooked the manual button to. This wire coming from the key gets hot when you turn the key only ( not a constant hot wire, only when switch is turned to start ) I assume this boat has started before therfore it may be in your best interest to look for it back by starter relay. When the key is just turned on there will be one hot wire for coil or ign box
