Hi guys. Newbie here. Putting a pretty much stock 455 ( Ka heads with roller rockers and was told it was bored / honed .030) back in to my 76 mini day. Have an edelbrock performer intake with a 750 cfm Holley carb on it. Bought a parts boat with a tunnel ram and 2 new 600 cfm holley carbs on it. Thinking about swapping them. Is it overkill to do that to a stock motor? Looks cool but don't want any problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Glasscutter is right !!! And frankly on a mini day you dont want to get rid of low end torque . Stay with the edlebrock .

Oh no!! I like olds a lot!!! And mine has never done me wrong. But in a mini day a tunnel will not work.

There is nothing wrong with a 455.  I will stick up for them this time.  The problem is that most people don't build them right.  The Olds is a different motor then most yes.  But build right will run and run.  My son has a pretty stock Olds and runs a single ram with a holly 750.  Runs very good and 3 seasons later still running good.  The olds have been in 70's and low 80's boats for years and a lot of them still out there.  I will agree on leaving your set up as it is in a day cruiser.  If it's not broke leave it.  Have fun and enjoy the boating.

Guys, just to throw my unsolicited opinion into the circle to get the conversation in full swing.

What does a jet need "low end torque" for?

The engine has almost NO load until about 3,800 rpm, which just happens to be where the tunnel ram starts to work.

Am I saying the tunnel ram is a great idea? , not specifically,  but saying it won't work as bad as you say. It may see a wee bit more on top.

Not trying to start a pissing match,  but I disagree with some comments made.
