Man, sounds like we're in the same boat.... pardon the pun. I just posted about my 460 being a dog too today.This one might be a timing issue. I'm not a Ford guy but this engine has got me stumpped

This one might be a timing issue. I'm not a Ford guy but this engine has got me stumppedI have seen cam timing being off causing this.

Fresh rebuild on a bbf 460. new dist rebuilt carb. Revs up to 5800rpm out of water. But in water only gets up to 3600 I'm not a Ford guy but been scratching my head at this. 460 .40 over .flat tappet cam by cam research, hei distributor. 850 Holley with 74 main and 84 secondary jets

Just curious, what did it turn before the rebuild? Any popping, missing, stumbling, etc... ??? Any signs of anything awry other than it won't turn rpm?

Been there... done that... banged head against wall, greyed a few hairs, and said lots of cuss words because of it
Only thing is typically if a coil is crapping out, usually it will miss... stumble... something other than just hit a wall.

It has a msd box box was sent to msd to refresh it. New cap, rotor. Still did the same. Put a hei in it still did the same thing. Carb was rebuilt and running 8 psi to the carb. 850 double pumper mech secondaries. 74 primary jets 84 secondary jets. I'm sticking a new dizzy in it and gonna try. It has a new fuel filter in it

I'm running a Mallory pro comp fuel pump pushes 14 psi. So I put a regulator on it. 10 psi floods the carb
