Hi guys, I've not been on in a while.
So I've got my BBC Performer RPM intake off to clean it a get it clear powder coated. I got to thinking that there may be a better intake to put back on. 1992 Commander, 454, 750 Holley DP performance carb (no choke apparatus), engine runs flat out at 4800 RPM's with a newer "A" impeller. Berkeley JE pump, stock engine with crap heads and Basset OT headers. GPS at 70 MPH without wife and half tank of fuel. I know...sad I had to kick her butt out to hit the seven zero!
How can I get another couple of hundred RPM's? Is it possible with just a intake swap?
Thank you.

From my understanding you would need to change your impeller to gain rpms.

Realistically, that's not going to happen with just a manifold/carburetor change. Assuming you have a 30-degree (big A) impeller, you are putting down about 395 HP. To make the jump to 5,000 RPM, you will need an additional 52 HP, and 5,100 RPM will require 79 HP.
You could trim the plenum divider down to "tune" the intake. Before that, I would suggest an open carb spacer to see if your engine will respond positively to the increased plenum volume.
Be advised that a +jet change will be required because you will lose booster signal, and probably a lower number power valve (assuming Holley).
If it were me, I would not cut the plenum divider. It is easier to do more harm than good, without a way to quantify the change. It is much harder to put the material back in once it has been removed.
