The way my acc pumps are set right now, as soon as the throttle linkage moves, the pumps start working, I tried to adjust it with the springs to keep the arms off the linkage, didn't make much of a difference. I don't have any idea what color the cams were in thier life prior to sun & gasoline, I looked at the Holley website and it seems like the black cams would be the best for my application. Any carb gurus want to chime in? The reason I ask is b/c after running at throttle, the boat wants to die heading into the 5MPH zones, or heading to the beach, seems like it's getting too much fuel? WTF do I know ???

Accellerator pumps only pump when the throttle picks up (in the opening direction)only. Really cant see how the pumps or cams have any effect. Mine uses the poopoo colored cams. It sounds to me like a sticking float or float level problem....Fellas?

It sounds like your pumps are set up correctly. They should start squirting the instant you move the throttle, otherwise the engine will want to stall.
If you pull the cam off, there will be a number on it that corresponds to what the cam is (regardless of its current color or lack thereof)
Your issue is not with the pump cam. Could be timing, loading on the pump, or the fact the engine is hot when you back it off to the no wake zone, but cold when you adjust it before you go out.
I'm personally running the pink cam and 35 squirters.

Hey speedy,
I think I remember you posting in a different thread that you were having this same trouble (the engine would want to stall comming off of plane) and the problem was the power valve was too big and not closing??

Yes, the PV was opening at idle coming off of plane, so I dropped it down to a 6.5 (was 8.5) and it is better now.

My dual set up was doing the same thing was the power valves were blown.......got a kit (two) for me to put a check valve in the baseplates of the carbs to keep them from blowing out due to backfire all holleys built after 1994 have this feature already your problem is probably not accellerator pumps sounds like they are set up right the only time accellarator pumps cause a rich condition that I know of is at high rpm the vaccuum signal can pull fuel out of the squirters on the body of holleys..............hope this helps
