Title: Another carb question..Quadrajet
Post by: Kyle700 on June 21, 2013, 05:33:19 PM
I was using a car carb, finally got a marine version. Now, the old carb had a vacuum line attached coming from the distributor, the marine carb doesn't have the metal tube to attach the vacuum line to...Do I remove the (metal) tube from the old carb and install it on the "new" one? It is located less than an inch above the choke vacuum line..
The carb I have now is used, from a boat with twin 350's. My engine is an old (73) 350. Do I need that vacuum tube from the dist attached for timing purposes?
Also the old carb had a connection/tube on the lower front that had a hose that connected to the port side valve cover, new carb does not have such tube..

Thanks

The one to the Dist. is for your vacuum advance and the one to the valve cover is for a PCV valve.

You don't need a vacuum advance in a marine application.  Just make sure the mechanical advance gets you 20 degrees or so, forget the vacuum advance, and set the distributor so you're at 36 degrees at 3000 RPMs.

#1 is where the vacuum from the dist connected (which may not have been right) #2 is where the PVC connected. "New" carb pic to follow
