#1 spun the bearing (That was my 1st guess :'()
Now what do I do to clean up all the metal shavings? Complete disassembly and wash it? Or can I replace all the bearings and clean it on the stand, without pulling the heads and intake?

Also are there better than stock bearings that i should be using?

take it all the way apart, wash it, have that rod resized...use Clevite 77 bearings

OK, its all apart except removing the cam. Does that have to come out too? Also, the crank is pretty chewed up... May need another if anyone has extras... let me know!

yes cam comes out, as well as all the oil plugs should be 2 on the front and 2 at the rear DO NOT get the plugs mixed up 2 will be tapered and 2 flat. now go buy a set of engine cleaning brushes (oversized pipe cleaners) i think moroso makes um. before you start cleaning you should do some oil mods to your block as outlined on paul kanes site high flow dynamics[url][http://www.highflowdynamics.com//url]
as well you might want to think about getting a new oil pump 100.00 well spent or you will have to take your pump apart and clean it too. talk to paul about the pump ive got 4 of them and no complaints.

Wow... thats a lot of sh*t for a spun bearing. Should I replace the rings too? They can't have more than 10 hrs on the engine. Also should I tell the machine shop to regrind the crank (if it can be) at some different clearance than stock? I read somewhere that jets need more clearance. I told them it was for a jet the 1st time but they may not have been aware that it needed different clearances than a car... On a good note, the rest of the motor looks good, not a scratch or gouge that i can see or feel with my nail. If I have to get a new crank can I get a stroker crank or will that change everything(meaning need new rods or pistons also)?

rings should be fine, as a general rule bearing clearance should be.001 for every inch of journal. so if you have a 3 inch journal you should have .003 clearance (disclaimer) these are just genaral guide lines the end user or builder will have to make his own descisions.
as for having the machine shop cut for clearance, you will need to tell them what you want after you get new bearings and install them and measure so yo can find out what size you have, and then you can tell them what you want the crank to be. if it were me i would have #1&5 rod's resized, it was #1 that went rite? do you know why this happend? if not you need to, so it doesnt happen again.
as for the stroker crank, you will need new rods and pistons as well. if you have a couple of grand to spend then go for it, best money i ever spent. But just dont think you can buy a stroker kit throw it in and call it good, all components will need to be measured and checked before assy. i had to send my brand new stroker crank in for clearance because i was not happy with what i got out of the box.

The oil plugs are in the top above the cam? Also where can I pick up the brushes to clean it all out?

I opted to have the machine shop clean the block, for $40 a clean and a mag will make me feel better than doing it myself. I will clean the rest of the parts and probably get the new oil pump. I did some of the oil mods, I didn't feel confident to drill the hole thru the front of the block, but I shaped the returns and the oil pump/filter area, and cleaned out the flash. I have a feeling I am going to need another crank, so let me know if anyone has one that is usable.

Well, I got my motor back from the machine shop today, and have the crankshaft installed so far. I went to pick it up last Friday after a call from the shop and noticed it was missing the harmonic balancer bolt and washer, then really started looking at it and saw there were no Oil galley plugs :o They looked around for a bit and couldn't find them. I went home and said I'd come back when it was ready. I got a call yesterday that it was ready, they found all the stuff. SO... I get home and look at the galley plugs and see that 2 were punched in and are full of metal shavings, and 1 was completely drilled out and stripped threads on another... Lets just say I'm pissed and don't recommend ever using Wholesale Automotive Machine. They told me come back in (for the third 20 min trip) and we will give you new one's for any damaged ones. Well guess that is where I am headed

When I worked office duty and sales . I used to tell people that , If you make one person happy , they'll tell 5 people . If you piss off one person , they'll tell 10 ! With the internet where it is today . Those numbers have probably uped about ten fold.

Although they denied damaging 2 of the galley plugs, they replaced them. Apologized for the one they drilled out, and let me leave a little pissed.

Good God, I just found 2 more cracked skirt pistons. They are cracked from the oil ring to the edge of the skirt, any ideas what is causing this? I have Speed Pro Hypereutectic pistons. I am guessing that I should have gotten the forged now :( Can I replace 2 pistons with a Speed Pro Powerforged piston? Or do I have to get exactly the same thing I had in before?

New forged pistons ship tomorrow ;D Small chance I can get it back together by next weekend. Not likely though I will have no time to touch it until Thursday afternoon.

Rotating assembly is installed and torqued down ;D Will try to get the rest of it together by tomorrow night... or Friday afternoon, then a few hours to reattach it to the boat and hopefully I'll get to go test it out on Sat. Only thing I am not happy about is that the new pistons have a larger dish in them so I drop to 9.5:1 compression :-\ Guess I'll have to run NOS to compensate >:D
