Title: Any chevy techs on here?
Post by: 74 SleekCraft on August 28, 2014, 06:14:45 PM
It's not boat related but I have a 02 Tahoe with a 5.3 vortec and it has a misfire in cylinder 3. I changed the plugs wires and coil. Checked compression and all cylinders are around 160. Anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on? I tried to google it and all I can find is Info for random misfires.

Oh and it only misses when it's at a idle.

Is the check engine light on?  Probably needs a crank sensor

If it's only #3 and you changed everything may be bad injector and cleans up with more pressure. Just my thought

Ya it's only #3. I'm gonna swap the injector with #1 and see if it changes the misfire to #1

Also check your coil.. I had a bad coil to one of my plugs and misfired

Do you have a noid light? To test the circuit going to the injector... they only cost about $12....

Betting on a tired/plugged injector.

My best guess is a bad injector

Thanks for the advice. I switched injectors and the misfire followed the injector to cylinder one. So I'm on my way to autozone to pick one up. There not cheap for a flex fuel lol.
