I just got my boat running and out on the water this weekend it has a 455 olds with a 12jc Berkley pump a impeller I GPS my speed and can only seem to get 35 mph any ideas why thats all I'm getting

what kind of boat, and what rpm's were you spinning. i'd have to guess its the pump from the info above. . . . or you left your anchor out buahaha jk

1. Look for debris in the pump.
2. Confirm engine RPM
3. Replace ebay GPS  ;)

Is it revving but not going? Or is it not revving?

if i had to guess i would say im running around 4500 to 5000 rpm i dont think my tach is reading right it revs up and runs great i used my garmin gps unit to check speed it has allways been dead nuts in my truck i am thinking my pump is probably wore out what impeller should i be running ?

You guys are getting better, props to you all!  This has been up for almost an hour and nobody mentioned that it might just be an "Olds" thing.  You guys are A-OK   ;D

And yeah it sounds like the pump is worn out.
