I am going to a big cubic inch motor and have been told I should use 5" tips or at a minimum 4.5" Its not expensive to swap them out just "Break out another thousand" I mean hundred. The new motor is a 632 inch 800 hp. Any experience here with the bigger tips? the Lightning headers I have 5" od so I would have to reduce.

Think about the exhaust in a hot rod or race car? Would they have to run 5" exhaust?
