Title: Bassett header coating?
Post by: Outlawmayhem on March 17, 2016, 04:29:41 AM
Okay so I picked up an engine yesterday morning.  Came with a set of bassett headers.  They're pretty rusty need some welds in a couple places.  Where would be a good place to have them repaired and ceramic coated?

I had mine done at embee. One of the best things I've done to my boat.

Forsure thanks.  Do you run your headers wet or dry? I just wanna make sure it'll hold up cause I run mine dry.

I looked into this myself. I'll share what a powder coat guy told me. He said...if you run them wet you can get away with powder coating. Which his cost would have been $180 for both. If you run them dry they would have to be ceramic Coated which was approx a little less than double the cost (I think). BUT...he recommends having the chrome chemically removed which at "his costs" was about $200.  Additionally neither of the coatings looked nothing like chrome even tho they were called "chrome". This is just information one guy told me, not sure if it helps. I might be looking into rechroming mine at some point.
