Okay so the last 2 time I've token my boat out, I've ran straight battery and no charger but I'd have to use a battery booster after some time. I'm not sure how my alternator is supposed to be connected. I've ran the positive wire from it and jumped it to my "fuse box" under ignition and even jumped it to fuse box under "batt". When I do that tho, it won't fire up. It'll start for a quick second and just shoot gas out the carb. Once I unhook the alternator power wire away from the fuse box, it fires right up. Any ideas?

My alt is linked to the power wire going to my starter. Do you have a one wire?

I think so

Run that orange to your main 12v 2g off the starter... I ran a good stereo 4g from alt to starter. The other wire is an exciter and should get 12v on one an ignition on the other. Some tie the two out of the plug together.

Ah Ha....pics are worth a thousand... whatever...
That IS NOT a one wire GM alternator, but a 10-SI alternator. a one wire will have a plastic plug there, but same chassis.
On the two pronged plug in, it needs an 'exciter' wire run from battery voltage. GM does this by going from the large post to the '2' terminal.
The other terminal (1) goes to a 'hot' with the key on. this may need a resistor in this wire to prevent 'back feeding' the system, so when the key is off the engine doesn't keep running.
Hope this helps.

So run that orange wire to starter power terminal and that purple wire, run it to the "ign" on fuse box?

I'd run the purple to the main off the alt (loop) and the other next to the purple to ign.
