Hi everyone I am a newbie to this site. It's been apt off help with everything! I have a 76 eliminator bubble deck with 460 in it I've had it for about 2 seasons and this season I'm looking to get most of the electrical bugs fixed. One of those bugs is that I have I battery selector with two batteries. One battery is hooked to start the motor and the other is to power accessories like radio, and gauges.

Well here's the thing last season my boat would start on every setting... Battery 1, battery 2, both and off...
Would you say I need a new switch. Or is it something different. And is it hard to replace. I have looked up prices. Most of them are 30-40 dollars. Is there a certain one anyone swears by or couldn't do without on their float?

I have a continuous duty solenoid out of a golf cart wired between my batteries. When the key is in on and start both batteries are connected. When my key is in off the solenoid disconnects one battery. Only thing I have run in the off position is the stereo. Seems to work pretty well so far. 


Life is uncertain. Don't sip.

also look at the connections.  when i put lugs onto my battery cables, etc those posts back there are SOOOOO close together.  between 2 batteries, amp, alternator charging wire, trim pump wires, etc it gets a little crowded in there.  perhaps you just have something touching each other.
