Title: BBC head bolts
Post by: doug olah on July 05, 2016, 05:12:27 AM
Need Advice on head bolts. I have a 454 V1 with aluminum heads. Bought headers and they hit the bottom 4 head bolts. Their about a 1/4 inch too high. So I need to change to a lower profile old type hex bolt. Any advice? I believe I still need to have washers under the bolt.
Anybody have this problem?

thanks in advance
Doug

No- logs and snails cleared fine

Yeah, needs the hardened washers.
ARP bolts should fit, pending whats in there now.

Gonna need to notch the headers a little bit... It will not be as much as you think... It's typically the corner of the bolt that gets in the way.
