ok, so whats the trick? How do you install this damn thing? I fought with it for an hour...but the damn push rod thing keeps sliding down.
i tried using a screw driver to hold it up then quickly put them pump in and pull the driver out...damn thing slides back down.
tried lubing it with a ton of grease to get it to stick.
I eventually got it in there, but managed to jack the gasket up, now I got a BP type scenario.
anyone got any tricks they would like to share?

coat hanger= bendable and have the shaft on the lowest part of the cam.

grease and a screwdriver seemed to work fine for me...maybe i just got lucky.

Lowest point of the cam and use wheel bearing grease not multi

There are a few different ways...
Grease works well, I have used Crane Cams assembly lube before (sticky chit!) another way is to pull the shaft plug out of the bottom of the block and use a bent coat hanger.
Perhaps the coolest method I have seen is to drill and tap the timing cover hole inline with pushrod and use a really long timing cover bolt to pinch it like they do on the small blocks (but they use one of the front motor mount bolts).....
The easiest way is to turn the engine upside down. ;) I know.....The motor is in the boat. :-*
The next easiest way is to throw the mechanical pump away and go Aeromotive electric 8)

this worked well, i got it all installed and snugged up until i realized i couldnt put the plug back in because the fuel pump was in the way :banghead: ...and then had to pull it back off. :mad:

LOL! That was gonna be my first recommendation.....now I KNOW why the Pickle has a Holley Electric on it! Mystery solved..... :screwy:

I guess I should have stated to not bolt the pump up tight and use a square hole allen plug... ;)

I use a hacksaw blade. It is thin enough and strong enough to hold it up while the arm is inserted. Once the arm and pump are pushed into place I pull the blade out.

moly(cam) assembly lube worked on mine. believe me, I fought with it for a while before i figured it out, but i know you already got it

lol im getting rid of my aeromotive electric pump, and 2 aeromotive inline filters and going mechanical. :-D anyone need a pump and filters??? hmmm hehe
