Ok I know it's been discussed somewhere before but I'm askin anyway... Stock Indmar 454, no advance at all in distributor mechanical vacuum or otherwise. What should my total timing with no advance?

I run 38 total

A stock Indmar has about 22° timing built into the distributor.
Curious why yours has none.
They normally ran about 34° degrees total.

Heres the distributor thats in it. So if i set it at 34deg i would be good? Seems to be set at 18deg on my dial back....

I have that same dizzy.
Mine has mechanical advance.
Does the rotor turn by hand about 1/8th of a turn? Mine does.
I set mine about 14* @ idle, then its ~ 34* at 3000+ (14* initial, +~20*mechanical)
No dial back timing light here, i just marked the balancer when I degree'd the cam @ 30* and 35* (saw blade & white paint, like oem)
I have also set it with the tach while underway, too
Good luck
