Title: BBF 501 mallory distributor/ Ballast resistor?

Im putting a engine together, Fresh BBF 501 with a Mallory distributor Model YL567EV. Question is what coil should I run and will I be needing a Ballast resistor and a power filter with this distributor?

Are you gonna switch it over to petronix flame thrower kit?  I have a mallory unilite on my BBF with ballast and power filter.  Regular canister coil as yours in pic.  Yes on ballast...  The blue marine cap works on the unilite.
