Hi there, What is your definition of Mild?  What parts are you looking to re-use?  What power do you have now?  RPM?  do you have a target to look for?  Budget?

Then we can give you suggestions.  Thanks! ;D

Looks like your block is a 2-bolt main (http://www.nastyz28.com/bbcmenu.php).  You can still make decent reliable power on with a 2-bolt if you keep the RPM reasonable and avoid detonation.  I doubt that solid lifters would have been original in that block.

Once you get your RPM and CID set, the best set of heads in your budget is advisable.

What kind of boat/pump?  X2 on the RPM and performance goals?

I based mine off of a ZZ454

454, .030" over, TRW forged pistons.

ZZ hyd. roller- .510" / .540",  211° / 230°, @.050"

mine- Howard's hyd. roller, .567" / .578",  225° / 231°, @ .050".

ZZ454 heads- oval port aluminum, 110cc, 2.19" int., 1.88" exh.

mine-  iron oval port, 100cc, 2.06" int., 1.71" exh.

ZZ comp ratio- 9.6:1 (GM optimistic guess)
mine- 8.99:1 (calc'd, not guessed)

ZZ intake- Dual plane GM
mine- single plane Eddy Victor Jr rpm.

Pulls an American Turbine AA to 4900-4950 on pump gas, thru logs and snails.(505 hp by the charts)

ZZ454- 469 hp @5500,
519 lb/ft @3700

Hope this helps

It is a 2 bolt yes, numbers come back as a chevelle motor, its a tx19 with  dominator pump, not sure on pump specs. This boat was originally built with a blown 454 built by rehr-morrison
