Don't choose a cam based on the name on the box, choose a cam based on the specs.

What cam do you have now?  What are the specs?  How does it run?  What are you trying to accomplish with your new cam?  Tell us about your motor...

The best cam you could ever run is right here, I will sell it to you for a special price.... >:D

IMHO, the "best cam" is a myth.

There are several people who think they have the answer on what works "best"...The problem with that statement is, if there is no information about the setup, there is no way in hell someone could make that determination.

IMHO, even the "wrong" cam can be made to run like a scared rabbit, it just takes knowledge and time to figure them out...Not saying "any cam" would work, but you could be off a bit and still make some stuff happen...Seen it myself. 8)

Whats the compression ratio?  What's the duration of the cam at .050" lift?

I think that carb is way to small for your motor....

Edit..just saw your picture...Holy bigass quarter stringers!!!

Dont think you can go much bigger with those heads. Have you done work to the heads or are they stock? I had to have my 990's machined for bigger springs to get up to a 750 + lift cam. clay smith the the head work and they came out awsome. I woulod stick with what you got untill something breaks. Clay smith is good stuff. want more power, throw some nitrous in the mix. cheep hp if you ask me as long as you got a 4 bolt main. you can run 300+ n2o with h beam rods, sreel crank, 4 bolt mains, and forged pistions.

the guy i have putting my motor back together said that he thinks that i should get away from a solid roller cam setup...and run a solid flat tappet cam and lifters. said that solid roller cams are for race motors not motors that you are running all day up and down the river. he also said that within time odds are that the roller lifters will most likely fail causing poss. engine failure.WTF?i have heard that alot of people are flattening their solid flat tappet cams lately ///TRUE OR FALSE?

A solid roller will outlive any solid flat tappet IMHO.....The technology is getting pretty off the hook as far as lifters.

Never heard a builder in my life tell me to run flat tappet over solid. I'm in aw. GO solid all the way. Way better. If you go with shaft mount rockers and howards roller lifters youl rarely have adjust the valves and pick up some hp. or run good rockers like gold series crane with girdles, good lifters and beefy push rods. youl be good. DONT RUN CHEEP CHINA PARTS WITH A BIG CAM!

Find a new guy to put your motor together.  Roller lifters are far superior to the old flat tappets in just about every respect.

2 roller cams in two boats  ;D
flat tappet is for flat track (rule stuff )
howards cam & (roller) lifters have served me well
