First off thank you for the insight on my logs question. But now am wondering if I can tap the knowledge well on every ones experience with the best mods to do for getting the best reliability? I have a 396 bbc with a little bored out and a little cam, nicson logs and snails, and a Berkeley pump. Thank you it's greatly appreciated!!
Also would like to hear every ones opinions on fluids.

My favorite fluid is absolutely Absolute.
Mixed with a quality tomato fluid as the base for the thickening agent and with additives such as Worcester and a touch of tabasco (stirred with a crisp celery stick) this particular fluid will lubricate as well as any fluid you can buy! I also add medium sized green olives to this as a stabilizing medium.

So much of "reliability" is based on the machine work and prep going into the build. If it's a currently running engine you don't have a whole lot of choice in those areas. The next most important thing is using quality parts and a good combination of parts. You can throw a boat load (bad pun) of money into parts but if they aren't chosen to work toward a common goal it won't perform well and may not last.
Now, with all that said what are you trying to accomplish? And, how serious are you about spending money to make it last?
FAST, RELIABLE, CHEEP... YOU CAN ONLY PICK TWO! In the world of boats (especially jet boats), these are words to live by.

I'm am not looking to build huge power or do 70mph this summer I just want to be abel to cruz the lake and not have to worrie about being towed in so just looking to get tips and trick every one has discovered over they're years with cooling or exhaust or jets or any of that stuff to keep from becoming a paper weight for the summer? Thank you

The best reliability mod imo is maintenance. If your not trying to break water speed records every trip and keep up on fluid changes and replace hoses as needed you should be fine. The only thing I could recommend is run a fuel/water separator.

I run a 1/4 qt or so of either transmission fluid / mystery oil in every tank full of gas... If you keep it under 4000 rpm it will survive longer. If your motor is all good consider a pump refresh.
