Title: Boat shopping

Looked at a jet boat the other day. I noticed that the motor has a front sump oil pan, so I'm thinking the motor likely came out of a truck? Is it a concern if the boat was ran like this? How important is a marine oil pan?

Was it a 460? A lot of production jet boats came stock with the 5 quart front sump pan.

Yes it was. Ok is it recommended to out in a bigger pan still?
I also noticed that on the side of the boat the striping was smooth but on the top you could feel the paint edges like someone tried to repaint it? Do they generally just have a clearcoat sprayed over the decals / striping?

Oil is always flowing to the back, you could spin a bearing. Oil pick should be to the rear.  Dooley oil pans, Anaheim is the way to go. 714-630-6436.  Terry

Had my boat since new in 77...have a stock 460 with stock style pan ... Never an issue
