Looking for a engine builder in so cal east county area. Looking to get my 454 (cast #10237297) rebuilt to a 468 looking for 500hp+ or so. I know the heads need to go cast#10114156. If I'm getting new heads might as well get it all done right the first time.  Just got the pump redone with a "A" impeller and blue printed. This is for a 21' open bow bahner. Any recommended shops?

$5-7k minimum realistically....without cutting corners.  Heads are 2k+, valve train (roller) will be around 1k, pistons/bearings $5-800, steel rods and crank, $1000 for cheap ones.  Then there's machine work and labor...by someone with attention to detail.

Hit him up now , he's very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. His shop is at his house so he's not as expensive as some shops. He did my 545 build and my 557 build.

Boat runs fine as is right now. Just got my pump back been outta the water too long. I wanna enjoy the rest of the season before I tear the motor out.  Plus I want him too have as much time as he needs for the build.  ;)

You might as well talk to him, if your not attached to your existing engine you can find a buildable block and be building your new hot rod while you're still running the boat.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

True but I have a good block why would I wanna spend more money on a buildable  block and not just wait and spend it right the first time?

Because you could sell your buildable block after you do the engine swap.  You're already talking about buying heads, and lbhsbz is trying to get you into a new crank and rods... you might as well go big while you can  ;)

Not trying to get anyone into anything....just being realistic.  Experience has taught me...figure out how much you think it'll cost, then triple it and you'll be close.

Thinking about just doing some heads and a cam on the block I got now. Thinking of getting rid of the peanut port heads will get me what I want for now. Any suggestions on a good set up? I all ready got a hirise manifold with a holley 750 marine carb.
