It's taken me two years since I lost Rhonda to get enough enthusiasm to build this motor and to have this machinist not to have checked this before he returned the block is a bit of a set back. I had the crank in and one piston was about to do some clearance checks and degree the cam. Idk if this thing is meant to be. I'm going to have Barry (obnoxious) from another site take a look at it since he's just down the road in Parker. If it's not fixable might be the straw that breaks the camels back. I've all this shit sitting around for two years and got all the parts to replace the Chinese crap the previous owner had lied about. Thought I was on my way now this. Oh well just rambling now. Thanks for all the help I'll let you all know what I find.

Well, it's story time brother......
Way back when, I built what was probably the fifth engine I ever had my hands on and did 100% myself.
I have never been well off, I've worked my fingers to the bone for everything I've ever had. Nobody in my family has what I call money, never mind F-you money.
So I built this LS7 with all the best parts, everything in it was top shelf.
Balanced, tricked out crank, forged pistons, good rods, I ate Ramen for two months for this deal.....
Anyway, I put the engine in my truck, a '78 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 that I traded a perfectly good running GMC extra cab S15 for....
Anyway, This truck was lifted, had 38" tires, 4.56 gears, the works.
So when I finally got it running, I was driving it home for the first time and it dropped a valve, basically a failed rotator.
Shit.......... I'm talking 5 miles or less.
So I had a set of heads from the boat on the shelf that I knew had good valves. So that night, I swapped the heads after cleaning up the valve dings in the piston.
Well, long story short, this thing ran HARD....... The next weekend was the local truck pulls. I entered the truck and on the second pull, broke the input shaft to the four speed and revved the engine to the sky scattering the bottom end.
I was devastated. Not to mention totally broke.
Point? I had the truck running a week later after a buddy helped me get a good core back together on the cheap.
That engine ran for the rest of the time I owned it and until the dude that bought it from me rolled it.
Moral of the story, giving up isn't my style. Honestly, I don't think it's yours either...
I probably have a dozen stories similar to that, it's mechanical stuff. Frustration is part of the game.
Take a breath, take a step back and approach it from a different angle and likely the problem will present itself.
When it does, there's no better drug on the planet. You will feel good about persisting and know that you won.
If you were closer, I'd be there with you scratching my head right next to you.
You got this bud.
It's great to see you here. I honestly don't know what else to say.
Looking down the road, this is a learning experience, you just failed the quiz, the test isn't for a few more weeks.
Much love bro.
