I have a 460 Ford running a single Holley that leaks after running. Fuel delivery is good while running but after shutting down fuel seeps onto the mainfold. Is it the gasket or do I need to pull and rebuild the carb...any advise would be helpful...
-
do you know where its seeping from ? what size carb ?
-
Mainly the front and pooling on the manifold and not sure of the size...single carb 4 banger Holley I check for a model but could find a serial number just patent numbers all over it...
-
Probably accelerator pump

Sounds like heat soaked / fuel boiling The fuel is getting warm from the manifold, heads, etc expanding and finding its way put of the bowls.
When you say manifold your talking about the outside or down the throat? What kind of manifold are you running?

the bowl gaskets are probably old and dry.
get a pair of blue gaskets for your metering blocks and bowls. it'll be easy to replace them. just remove the bowl bolts, put a rag under hte bowl to keep gas from going everywhere. tap the bowl with the head of a screwdriver or rubber mallet to break the seal and it should fall off. clean the surfaces, put in the new gaskets and put the bolts back in the bowls and do NOT overtighten them, they strip easily.

if they're old you might as well just get a rebuild kit with new needle cork seals, bowl gaskets, accelerator pump gasket, etc.

I would also check out the needle and seat. If they are dirty it can hold the floats open and poor fuel in the intake.

Going with the shrunk gasket theory..
The blue gaskets ka0tyk mentions are ethanol resistant and wont shrink when they get dried out.
Use Vaseline or Pam on then before you put it together, this makes them come apart more easily, but will not effect their effectiveness.
IMHO I would get a kit, then buy some extra bowl and screw gaskets to keep in the crash box.

Ordered the rebuild kit from Summit along with a couple other toys...do you think it's okay to run at Avi May 10 - 12 without any major issues?????????????????????????
