I have not had boat out since july, took to lake in Nov. and it would not start. Rebuilt carb in dec. fuel in bowls had dried and left a yellow film on everything, sprayed out all passages and it fied up and ran in driveway for 1/2 hour, went to start today and same thing, no start.....no squirting in carb at top.....What do yall recomend for winterization? I use the fuel stabilizer stuff from wal mart in the marine isle thats blue (cant think of name right now) running a holley (3310 I think, cant remember now either) :beer: I know its not spark or anything, its just from sitting..

Never leave fuel in the carb.
Blow out the air bleeds.
Give everything a good rinse with some carb spray and then give it hell!

How do I get all the fuel out of Carb?
Turn off electric fuel pump and start engine and idle it til it dies?

I use Berryman carb cleaner it's a little more money but seems to be worth it.

I pull the carb off.
Drain bowls through a lower bolt.
Remove a bowl and manually squeeze the accelerator pumps to get the fuel out of them.
Throw it back on.
Cover it.
Drink beer.
Kick the dog
Beat the kids .
Slap the ol lady around.

Or, you're in Phoenix... It's boating season all year round. Take the boat out every 4-5 weeks just to keep things fresh ;D

There is another trick that some savvy boaters use. AV gas is much more stable, so if you run some of it into the carb, even if it does evaporate, it doe not leave the residue.
I was up at Parker over the weekend discussing how my friend's turbo engine, as well as my own(now gone) never have carb issues, and how neither of us runs pump gas. I never touched a carb on my engine in 6 years of racing and playing with that boat.

There are no water borne additives in AV or racing gas... :thumbup:
This is also true with diesel fuel, you can just pour a bit into the carburetor when you put it away, keeps for about 6 months.

Had my carb done by C and J Feb 2006, and have never had a problem. I run pump gas and ocasionally add octane booster.

I had my carb rebuilt and it sat for a while then didn't work so the guy exchanged it with one he already had done but he has a bunch already done and no telling how long that sat around. Going to rebuild but im afraid of the price per gallon of av gas

Makes me wonder about the rebuilder :sly: I forgot to add that my boat will sit for 3, 4, months and not be used, and I still have no probs. Don't drain and don't use AV gas either. Gotta remember I own a boat, lol, can't afford av >:D

I know. Can't hardly afford regular gas now days. I just need to rebuild myself then that way I know

I have never had problems with letting carbs sit with gas. Hell my wife grounded me from my chevelle about 4 months back and I fired it up last night and gave it hell. Even the holley on the boat I got now sat for near 5 years with gas in it as well as the tanks and I still have the varnish left to prove it. Took some wd40 and loaded up the bowels through the over flows cranked the engine and pumped the hell outta the pedal. Did that twice and motor fired as soon as the fresh gas hit it.
Something else is goin on. I agree with 76nordic, diy or find another guy to rebuild
