Title: Clay Smith Fuel Pump Question
Post by: GAWnCA on February 18, 2008, 09:38:40 PM
Recived my Clay Smith Fuel Pump today.  Then I was asked if I got the bottom feed kit.  I didn't know there was such a thing to order or I would have.  So can someone tell me what I need to call and order?

this...

Bottom Feed Fuel Pump Plate Kits
These kits allow you to use Edelbrock Street and Racing Fuel Pumps (and other manufacturers' 6-valve pumps) on 1970-1/2 to 1981 Camaros or other vehicles where there is a space problem. AN fittings can be used and the fuel lines can be routed more neatly through the engine compartment. Kits include a machined aluminum plate along with all necessary gaskets and plugs. They replace the lower section of the fuel pump and allow bottom feed fuel line fittings rather than the opposing side feed fittings on most aftermarket pumps. The Edelbrock Fuel Pump Kits do not change the flow or pressure ratings of the pump.

Fuel Pump Kit for Street Fuel Pumps (3/8" NPT) #1797
Fuel Pump Kit for Racing Fuel Pumps (1/2" NPT) #1798

You can get it at summit:

3/8" NTP's = http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL%2D1797&N=700+115&autoview=sku
1/2" NTP's = http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL%2D1798&N=700+115&autoview=sku

its not a must...just makes things easier if its crowded around the fuel pump.

Ok,  Thanks,  What is the best size for my non-race application?  I ordered the 3/8" pump.  What are the best fittings and lines to run?

When installing the bottom feed adapter plate. would you use lock-tite on the threads?
