Mine just had -8 as does my friends boat but I'm no more than 500 and he's maybe 550.

Jimpen runs -8 and he has an est. 850-875 just on motor and he runs right at 150 ish temp

You MUST regulate it. A simple gate valve is adequate.

I never use less than a 3/4" valve.

im using 5/8" hose with a 3/4 gate valve. I have a very hard time making heat in the engine for what its worth.
Can barely see 140*
single dump, estimated 450 hp or so

i dont know. If you already have the 1/2 you could try it.
I have an oil temp gauge also, and after a lot of hard running ive only seen it around 180 a couple of times. It keeps my ish cold...
Is your 2jz aluminum block? Aluminum head?

Dump fitting ID is too large. You should be in the 5/16" to 3/8" range. Just the bulkhead fitting, nothing else. Headers right? Where do your headers come in?

im pretty sure its a 3/8 dump fitting. its home now guess i could finally measure it
One dump, the headers are ran dry but i do have a valve if i want to inject water. I dont since i have the wideband now.
The only thing besides the dump is the steam line dump whcih is 1/4"

I'm going to have a turbo dump so no water through exhaust anywhere. and it's an iron block with an aluminum head (I believe the heads aluminum)

cliff notes
LS engines have a "steam port" at all 4 corners of the heads. In a car, typically the rear ones are blocked off and the front two are sent back into the cooling system. (atleast the newer ones early ones had all 4 going to the radiator)
I plumbed all 4 into a tee then overboard. If you dont its been discovered it can cause hot spots.. I did all 4 to be safe

I think you will be fine. But if you dont have the valve alreay, it should only cost a couple more dollars to get the 3/4 valve. I think i paid like 9.00 at lowes for mine

to cold can be bad. Can create moisture in the oil and appear like a milkshake...
the closer you can get to 170 or so would be best i would think.
What fuel are you planning on running?
I keep an eye on my oil temp not so much the engine temp. And i tend to keep the oil temp under 180 but above 150 or so. And i dont seem to have to much moisture in the oil. But still get a slight bit in the valve covers

I have a separate dedicated line & pick up with a through hull type fitting to feed the intercooler. Pick up is through the ride plate.
This is on a blower/cooler deal. No idea if it's done similar on turbos.

My initial suspicion would be that it's probably pretty low (thinking under 10psi). I need to read up on the steam vents. Are you running a block mounted automotive style water pump?

From the jet to gate valve
Gate valve to a tee
Tee into block
Out of block to a tee
One end of tee to a ball valve for the headers at my seat (closed all the time now)
Other end of tee overboard
Steam vents directly overboard

I personally would have put the steam lines into the same line as the dump. One outlet overboard.

thats a good idea. i might try that...
Maybe i could just drill/tap my tee for the overboard and put the steam lines to that
