Hey guys I inherited a 71' hydro from my grandpa. My dad and I rebuilt it over the last 4 years but my grandpa was a bit of a mickey mouser and we are trying to do it right. Which brings me to my question... Right now we have a cheap Y garden hose adapter attached to the pump house so that we can attach a hose to run it in the driveway. Because dodge mounts the thermostat on the water pump in a car, we don't have a thermostat in the boat. So we just kind of open that little hose valve when the boat is warming up, and tune it that way. I don't like this!!! it seems like there must be a better solution out there! Does anyone have any suggestions?

98% of all jet boats DO NOT run a t-stat.
This is a single pass system. you want to gain about 50*.
Lake temp 75*, outlet temp 125*. DO NOT run 180-195. ITS NOT A CAR.
McMerc's run 'tween 140-160, with a stat. Outboards usually cooler, too.
Oil temp is a much bigger factor.
use a gate valve, at the pump, to get some temp out of the motor.
