I have chrome, over transom Headers for my jet. I'm having problems with getting the water to run through them and they have started to turn blue, which sux. Other than being discolored and getting really hot, is there any other damage happening if there is no water going through them. Also, if I get a ceramic coating, do I need water cooled?

I have the option to run water on my ceramic coated headers. I also have a hard time getting a lot of water through them even though I've cleaned the lines a million times so, I just keep the valve closed and run em dry. It can get a little uncomfortable if you have people in the back seat but I don't have any problems when I run them dry. Just a little less shiny.

It gets pretty hot. That's the only thing that does worry me that it might cause the gel to crack.

Mine were running hot, no water !! Also everything else gets hot. The fuel pump- leaked alottle gas, starter got hot after long run - wouldn't fire, tilll it cooled down!!! Tore apart all lines and blew the shit out of them. Runs get now! Water comes out and my switch works get. Try not closing the valve all the way once it is open and running

I'd be wondering why you're not getting enough water to the headers. I would think that if you're running the most common set up, there shouldn't be any problem pushing water through the headers.
What are your set-ups like? Do you guys have the water line coming from the t-stat housing to the Bassett t-valve to the headers? The t-valve has a ball and spring in it that goes in a certain way to work right. Sometimes they stick or the spring breaks.
Sometimes minerals and scale can build up in the lines and fittings.
They sell restrictors that limit the flow. These could be plugged up. Do you know if you have one?

I run my gate valve 1/3 to 1/2 closed on the exit... works great on my system...

Just some things to check if you haven't already.
The Basset t is hollow, I only run the valve near the seat. That's why I am so baffled by it because I have blown air through everything and all seems clear. If i open the valve and blow air from the line coming off of the tstat housing, you hear the air coming out of the exhaust. When I'm running and open the valve, you hear the exhaust tone change, the valve gets hot as if water is flowing through it but, no steam. So it may be getting a little bit of water, but not enough to stream like it did the first time I ever took this boat out. I'll check those resteictors, if it has them. Thanks.

Do you run a valve for the dump line?
If so you can use that to restrict flow and build a lil pressure to get more water to the pipes if that's what ur after

I am having to redo my water supply to the Bassett T. The last owner had the Ball valve and T valve supplied out of the T Stat housing. I could not get enough pressure due to dual dumps. I do not recommend restricting the dump unless you like buying and installing new head gaskets. I have posted a pic of a Bassett supply line routing below. Your supply to the Ball valve and Bassett T should come in before the gate valve off of the pump.

I had the same problem as well as failing to wipe down the headers getting rid of the oil from my skin and it stayed. Had them ceramic coated and problem solved. Run them wet or dry no issues. Easy to clean as well.

This is the diagram I have used it's also the same a what is on Bassetts web site it shows to plumb the Bassett T off the out of thermostat housing or intake to each header not off the pump.
