Title: dumb a$%es shoulnd be band from wiring
Post by: bluegoose95401 on July 22, 2012, 08:42:56 PM
so my brother finally got his boat the guy he got it from told him that he wasn't done installing the pertronix unit in to it so it wont run no spark to the plugs the price was right so he bought it any way. so he gets it home and i started looking at it all the wires go some were and are plugged in to something so it looks done but there is no power at the coil so i stared tracing wires the negative on the coil is plugged to the dist this should be correct there are 2 wires to the positive one goes to the pertronix unit inside the dist the other goes to a 40 amp fuse to a balist than to .... to the electric choke and that's it no hot going to it at all . i know that that is completely wrong there's suppose to be one wire to the positive side of the coil that leads to the I on the ig solenoid and one more to the switch when set in the run run position correct if any one has a wiring diagram for this boat that would be amazing if they cold post it or if they could direct me in the right way to do this the boat is a 86 ski centurion concourse ski with the ford 351

Hardin Marine has a lot of good information available but nothing listed for the 351.

These might help.

i think i may bypass the wiring harness  and run two wires one from the S and on from the I post on the solenoid that should work right?
