Title: Electric water temp guage help please...
Post by: walshmotorsports on June 10, 2010, 10:58:35 AM
So I sell my jet boat to a great dude and when we fired it up the electric water temp goes full pegged? Even when you just turn on the key it goes all the way hot? The motor is not even ran yet?
I took the wire off the sending unit and it drops from 240 to like 220 but the motor has not even been ran?
Not to good with electrical, thanks for an help. :banghead: "D"

Generally when the gauge pins that means the sender wire is shorted to ground somewhere.  disconnect the wire at the gauge and see if it returns to zero with the key on.  If it does, find where the wire melted/wore through the insulation and fix it.

If the guage still doesn't return all the way with the sensor wire disconnected, then you need a new guage.
