can anyone tell me how to find out what year a engine is with the id code ???

dont know the paper work says 8.1L? not sure about 2 or 4 bolt

7.0 = 427 7.4 = 454 8.2 = 502

Thats the casting #'s soooooooo...........yes its a 454 block, has it been bored? to get your 8.1? Im not sure you can go that far with this block ???

454 block with a 4.250 crank is a 496 I think?

I think it was stroked.... now if it had this cast # then yes.

The aftermarket takes a 454 (4.250 bore 4.000 stroke) puts in a stroker crank (4.250) and bores the cylinder out either .030 (489) or .060 (496).
A GM built 496 has a bore of 4.250 and a stroke of 4.37.
All stock BBC's come with a 6.135 con rod.

thats funny I would have rather had a jet but it was a great price that I couldnt pass up maybe I could make it a dual jet :o

I think theres a shop in Fort Mohave that can do that, called "The boat guys", fast turnaround time :o
