How much offset should the engine have from the pump to give the driveline the slight angle it needs? 1/2", 1"???

Ralph is right. My boat is setup like this:
Crank centerline and pump shaft centerline are even as far as elevation and left to right, BUT my motor is set at 5* this give the u-joint all the deflection they need.

Sam, you really need an angle finder for this, Harbor Freight has them for like 6 bucks.

Thanks Skip, I'm slowly but surely moving along. Found a diverter tonite!!! ;D and my neighbor has a cherry picker he's gonna let me borrow. Just waiting on two mount feet that Boost is sending and I'll be ready to drop the motor in!!! O0

Skip, you know better than that.....
If you can get the known height at the front of the engine at 0*, then on a 24" engine (BBC) you would add 1/2", this equals 1* of deflection which will be plenty because you wont get it that close IMHO.....Sheez. :sly:
I think a Ford 429/460 is about 24" long also. :-\ Don't do many Fords. ;)
Didn't you take Geometry in High School? ;D
A small block would be just under 1/2", it works out to about 7/16" :thumbup:

I will probably go get the dang angle finder to double check. I'm going to try the existing stringer holes and see where that puts me and go from there.

LOL, doing the math I can avoid diggen through the toolbox.... :thumbup:
I have done so many of these I have a steel post I made that fits over the splined input shaft of the Berkeley's and is the same length as a driveline and a BBC crank, I make a cardboard front template that tells me where the crank snout should end up......I am the laziest when it comes to that stuff... :screwy:
It works out to .489" BTW... :thumbup:

Do yourself a solid, if the holes don't line up perfectly, go get a Forstner drill bit and punch the holes and epoxy up some hardwood doweling and plug them and re drill new holes, it makes it mo betta. :thumbup: This shouldn't take more than a couple hours..

The holes in the stringers are the factory holes from eliminator and the boat orginally came with a ford , so the holes should be close enough for you state workers! ;D
