Title: Engine questions.....
Post by: Luckie Stiff on November 01, 2007, 06:22:16 PM
Ok, so the 460 didn't go in the boat last weekend, and as a result of having time to think about it, it's getting a full rebuild. I'm shooting for 488 C/I and hopefully 450-500 HP, what cam, rockers, intake, carb, ignition do you all recommend? I've got some idea of what to use, but I like to hear other folks' views as well. Keep in mind that this boat is not going to be a race boat, just a nice ski/tow river boat that should hopefully hit 65-70MPH.

Thanks in advance

Skip, heres my production Ford recipe  9.5 to 1 Hyperutectic or forged, Comp cams (second level x-marine ) I'll dig out the grind #(also depends on your heads) . MSD pro billet dist , 750 Holley (or equal) dual feed double pumper ,manual Holley f/pump ,We like the Weiand Stealth and Air gap intakes, Comp makes some great stnls rockers, Smith bros has the "kind" pushrods Summit 3 pos timing set and your there .. The comp XM 278 is a bitchen cam with D2 head cj valves slight port work, flat tops and a 850 you can make real good power enough to turn a A impeller (.030) to 5200-5400.

The Stealth will make more power than the RPM all the way up to 6800rpms.
