Title: Engine tick
Post by: flames on July 27, 2015, 07:48:50 PM
Had the boat this weekend and it ran great. On the last run the motor started to tick it sounds like it is coming from the front right side valve cover. It is a bbf and the motor is only about a year old I have not torn into yet but was just wondering if any one had any ideas or suggestion. Thanks

Maybe a loose rocker?

Use a long screw driver, like a stethoscope, holding the handle to your ear or buy one at AutoZone and probe around until you find the general vicinity from where the noise comes.  That should give you an idea of what you need to pull down to investigate.

One test is worth a thousand theories.

Good luck,

Joe

Comes to find out I was running in some rough water and my seat hit the distributor and made the cap offset.
