Title: Evac Tubes
Post by: Beaveretriever on March 08, 2012, 12:05:54 AM: Im planning on installing some evac tubes to vent the motor thru the headers instead of all over my boat. My question is do you need to run a check valve between the headers and the valve covers? I bought some sweet push in fabricated breathers that im going to weld a -10 bung. Im going to run some 90* AN fittings off those followed by some black cloth braided line to the headers. All my stuff will more than likely come from SWEET PERFORMACE. They are a little fitting place that has better prices and AWESOME CUSTOMER service. The owner is a boat guy, FYI.

I think he's the guy next to OC driveline.. big black Labrador? I bought a few AN fittings from'm, seems to be cool fellow, decent prices.

also, run clear hose so you can see if youre burpin up a ton of oil

yes you need to run the gulp valves...Without the valves the engine will not vent properly and you will have problems.

The valve are what actually create the suction, closing on the high and opening on the low. Exhaust pulses are more positive than negative.

Perhaps the extra oil splash can be addressed through a different set of valve covers or a different breather set up? Or does your motor justify the evac lines?
