60 mph @ 4400 rpm
« on: May 14, 2022, 07:47:02 PM »
I built a pretty healthy 460 for my 18 Berkeley jet boat. When I look at impeller absorbed Hp chart it says 4400 rpm is only 300 Hp I hope my engine has more than that lol but I feel 60 mph is respectable at that rpm. What does the forum think ??

Mine showed 4500 rpm, and was at 55, with 3 aboard. (19' Saguaro, SBC)
Your in the ballpark.
Tach could be slightly off.
Gps could be slow.

Run it.

Not sure about impeller size just put good parts and cam in the motor and thought it would make more Hp comparing to that Berkeley chart. I?m happy with the boat, have noticed the loader is well below the hull about 1/4 inch and the transition from keel to intake isn?t a smooth transition.
